The need

Since 2022, the community at Masjid Al-Rahmah has grown rapidly – alhamdulillāh. We have now outgrown our current premises and reached a point where the building is limiting the work.

Current capacity: 300
Expected capacity at the new facility: 1,500
Children currently in our madrassah: 120

This is not only about salah and Jumuʿah. It’s about building a centre where people can learn their dīn, raise their children upon Islam, and find consistent guidance and support.

The Prophet ﷺ said:

Whoever builds a masjid for Allah, even if it is only like the small hollow a sandgrouse makes for its eggs Allah will build for him a house in Paradise.”

This hadith reminds us that even what seems small to us is عظيـم with Allah when done sincerely—and the reward is lasting.

Why?

For many in our congregation, the masjid is the heart of their week. It is where they:

  • pray in congregation and attend Jumuʿah
  • learn the essentials of their dīn through weekly lessons and lectures
  • benefit from workshops and seminars on what matters most
  • bring their children for structured Islamic education

Right now, 120 children are enrolled in our madrassah and demand continues to grow. Our ability to expand classes, improve facilities, and serve families is restricted by space.

Our congregation includes Muslims from many walks of life and diverse backgrounds, yet we all share the same need: a masjid that can carry the weight of a growing community.

Imagine this!

A spacious facility that can truly accommodate the needs of Leeds:

  • a prayer space that can safely handle Jumuʿah demand
  • classrooms built for Islamic education and madrassah expansion
  • a welcoming environment where sisters can attend and learn
  • a dedicated space for youth development
  • a large car park and easier access for families and the elderly

The property Opportunity

We have identified a large warehouse facility with a substantial car park, suitable for conversion into a masjid and Islamic education centre.

This is a rare opportunity to secure a building with the footprint to match our growth, one that can take us from a current capacity of 300 to an expected capacity of 1,500, in shā’ Allāh.

The vision

A place of worship and Islamic education built for the future We want a centre that can keep pace with the community, without constantly outgrowing the space every few years.

1) Youth Development Centre

We strongly believe in investing in our youth. A dedicated youth space would allow us to offer:

  • regular youth circles and mentoring
  • activities, sports, and outings
  • workshops on identity, faith, confidence, and responsibility
  • safe, consistent engagement that keeps young people connected to the masjid

2) Sisters’ Community & Learning Space

At present, sisters cannot attend Jumuʿah because all available space is needed to accommodate brothers.

A larger facility would allow:

  • a permanent sisters’ prayer area
  • sisters’ classes, Qur’an programmes, and learning circles
  • community events where sisters can attend with comfort and dignity
  • stronger support for mothers, students, and working sisters

3) Classrooms & Madrassah Expansion

With *120 children currently in our madrassah*, we need facilities that reflect the reality of our community.

A new building would allow us to:

  • expand class capacity and organise learning more effectively
  • provide better classrooms and resources
  • increase Qur’an and tajwīd provision
  • run adult learning programmes alongside children’s education
  • host workshops and visiting speakers without disrupting core services

Waqf & Sustainability

A major strength of the premises is that it includes a separate building that can be used to generate income, helping the masjid become more self-sustaining.

This matters because a masjid should not only be built—it should be maintainable.

Income generation can support:

  • utilities, maintenance, and running costs
  • long-term staffing and teaching support
  • youth programming and sisters’ programming
  • expansion of dawah and community education

This is how we move from “just coping” to building a lasting waqf.

Our Goal

Purchase a £2,000,000 property and relocate

To secure this building, we are aiming to raise £1,000,000 from the community as a major fundraising target (towards purchase costs), alongside other structured avenues (such as financing and institutional support), in shā’ Allāh.

The Ask

1,000 people × £1,000 = £1,000,000

We are looking for 1,000 donors to give £1,000 each.

That’s the strength of a community acting together:

  • not a handful carrying the burden
  • but many people sharing it for the sake of Allah

And if you can’t give £1,000, don’t step away. There are many ways to be part of this.

Ways you can help

Give what you can

  • £1,000 – “Founding Donor” contribution
  • £500 – half-share toward the target
  • £250 / £100 / £50 – strong, meaningful support
  • £10 weekly – consistent giving that adds up
  • monthly standing orders for sustainable donations

Share the campaign

Some people can give, but simply don’t know the need. Sharing is real support.

Make duʿā’

Ask Allah to place barakah in the project, open doors, and accept from the donors.

A Reward That Continues After You’ve Passed

Supporting a masjid is ṣadaqah jāriyah continuous charity.

Every salah prayed, every child learning Qur’an, every lesson delivered, every person guided, by Allah’s permission, becomes part of what your donation supports.

This is a chance to invest in something that outlives us.

Closing

We are asking you to help secure a permanent home for Al-Rahmah Faith Centre, a place that serves worship, learning, youth development, and the wider community.

Help us move from a current capacity of 300 to an expected capacity of 1,500, and strengthen a madrassah currently serving 120 children.

Make space for Rahmah. Give generously. Share widely. And seek the reward with Allah.
